A seafood twist on the viral blanket dumpling recipe. These easy salmon blanket dumplings use wild ground coho salmon for a light, protein packed version that is perfect for weeknight dinners.
Add your ground salmon, soy sauce, mirin, sesame oil, green onions, garlic, carrot and pepper to a bowl and mix well. *leave some green onions aside to top once cooked
Make dumpling mixture into balls, approx 1” in diameter.
In a large pan, heat up olive oil on medium heat.
Add balls, leaving space around them, and cook for 1 min.
Place dumpling (or wonton) wrappers on top, carefully squeezing them on top of each ball.
Pour in water, cover and let cook for 5-7 minutes until cooked through and starting to crisp on the bottom.
Either remove from pan to serving dish and add chili oil, sesame seeds and extra green onions - or serve right out of the pan.
Recipe Note
These salmon blanket dumplings are a seafood twist on the viral dumpling recipe that has taken over TikTok. Instead of the traditional pork filling, this version uses wild ground coho salmon for a lighter, protein packed option that is full of flavor.
The salmon is mixed with soy sauce, sesame oil, mirin, garlic, green onions, and grated carrot to create a savory dumpling filling with a bright, fresh flavor. Small salmon meatballs cook in a pan and are topped with dumpling wrappers, which steam and soften while the bottoms crisp slightly, creating the signature “blanket” texture that makes this recipe so fun to eat.
The result is a cozy, slurpable dumpling dish that comes together quickly and is perfect for weeknight dinners. Finished with chili oil, sesame seeds, and extra green onions, these salmon dumplings deliver the same comforting flavor as the viral version with a fresh Pacific Northwest seafood twist.
