Honoring Women's Month with Wild Seafood

Posted by Joci Besecker on

As a woman, mom, and founder of a women-owned business, Women’s Month always gives me a moment to pause and reflect—on the women who’ve supported me, the challenges we all face, and the ways we can lift each other up.

This year, we wanted to do something that felt truly meaningful. So we made a donation of wild-caught sockeye salmon to Mary’s Place, a local women’s shelter here in Seattle that provides safe, supportive spaces for women and families experiencing homelessness. Their work is inspiring—and incredibly important.

Wild Salmon for the Win

We talk a lot about how wild salmon is one of the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet. It’s rich in omega-3s, full of clean protein, and supports overall health. But beyond the nutrition, a warm, well-prepared meal can offer something just as important: comfort, dignity, and the feeling that someone cares.

A note from the team at Mary’s Place after preparing the Premier Catch sockeye salmon for their guests:

“Here are a few photos of the wonderful sockeye salmon we received from Premier Catch. We would like to report that we ran out of salmon and our guests thoroughly enjoyed it. We greatly appreciate the donation.”

That simple message said everything. And it reminded me why we do what we do - and that we need to bring more next time!

Doing Our Part

Giving back is a part of our DNA at Premier Catch. Whether it’s making wild seafood more accessible, supporting sustainability, or donating to those in need, we believe in using our business as a force for good.

This donation may seem small, but it came from the heart—and it’s something we plan to continue doing throughout the year, not just during Women’s Month.
