This method not only supports sustainable fishing practices but also results in tuna with significantly lower mercury levels. Studies have shown that Pacific Northwest troll-caught albacore contains an average of just 0.14 ppm of mercury—less than half of what’s found in most conventional canned albacore . This makes it a safer choice, especially for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and for young children.​
