I know you've heard about "The Mediterranean Diet." This diet become wildly popular in the 90's and is based off of the eating habits of Spain, Italy, and Greece back in the 1960's.

It is dominant in plants, unsaturated fats, oils, legumes, nuts, seeds, fish, and an overall balance of moderation and joy.

It is recommended by countless health and medical organizations, and has been the subject of well over 7,000 scientific studies. In general, this diet is 40% Carbohydrate (grains, legumes, fruits), 25% Protein (fish, eggs, greek style yogurts, little meats), and 35% Fat (oils, nuts, seeds, olives).

We recently shared with you "The Blue Zones", five places where there are the most centenarians and super-centenarians on earth. Specifically pertaining to the Mediterranean Diet, is Ikaria, the island in Greece that has an average age of death 10 years higher than the rest of the world. The IKARIA Study in 2009 really solidified the importance of a Mediterranean Style Diet and how it can impact Americans like us over 6,000 miles away.

All this is to say, EAT MORE FISH!
