Fish Choice

As a wild focused, direct to consumer seafood company, Premier Catch is passionate about bringing people the freshest and most sustainable seafood possible, from both a consumer and industry perspective. We partner with many organizations to do this, including Fish Choice, which is also connected with Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch (we’ll explain that organization in another post!)

So what is Fish Choice? Fish Choice is a non-profit organization that works to promote sustainable seafood choices by providing information and resources to both consumers and businesses. Their platform allows businesses like ours to create a personalized dashboard to track and manage seafood sustainability information. Businesses can self-assess their seafood by creating product lists and running an assessment that reports up-to-date sustainability information for each item. You can check out the Premier Catch dashboard here.

For consumers, Fish Choice offers a wealth of information about different types of seafood, including their sustainability status. They also offer a searchable database of seafood products, so you can easily find information about the seafood you're interested in buying.

But Fish Choice isn't just for consumers. The organization also works with businesses to help them make a commitment to providing more sustainable seafood choices. They offer guidance on how to source sustainable seafood, as well as tools for tracking and reporting on sustainability metrics.

Seafood is a vital part of our global food system, and unsustainable fishing practices can have serious environmental and social impacts, including overfishing, bycatch of non-target species, and habitat destruction.

By choosing sustainable seafood options, and purchasing from companies like Premier Catch, consumers can help to protect our oceans and ensure that seafood remains a viable food source for generations to come. We think Fish Choice is an invaluable resource for making informed decisions about the seafood we eat and buy. We're proud to partner with Fish Choice to promote sustainable seafood choices. We believe that by working together, we can create a more sustainable and equitable seafood industry.
