Wild seafood is a sustainable way to feed the planet.

As a sustainable wild seafood company that sells directly to consumers, we are passionate about the power of wild seafood to feed the planet - starting at home here in the US.

Aquatic foods are also lovingly referred to as “Blue Foods” as they are animals, plants and microorganisms that originate in bodies of water. This would include not only “sea” food but also lakes and rivers, and even farmed aquatic plants and algae. Think cod, salmon, halibut, crab, shrimp, clams, squid, water spinach, and seaweed.

A recent article in the journal Nature highlighted the potential of blue foods to improve human nutrition and discussed the diversity of blue foods and the nutrients they provide. They concluded that increasing the production and consumption of blue foods could help to achieve global nutrition goals.

  • Blue foods (especially fin fish and crustaceans) are a great source of protein. Protein is essential for growth and development, and it is also important for maintaining muscle mass and repairing tissues.
  • Blue foods are a good source of omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids are essential for brain development and cognitive function. They have also been shown to have a number of other health benefits, including reducing the risk of heart disease, stroke, and some types of cancer.
  • Blue foods are a good source of vitamins and minerals including vitamin A, vitamin D, iron, calcium, and zinc. These nutrients are essential for good health, and they can help to prevent malnutrition and other diet-related diseases.
  • Blue foods are a sustainable way to feed the planet. They can be found in a variety of ecosystems, including oceans, lakes, and rivers. This makes them a more sustainable source of food than land-based animals, which require large amounts of land and resources to produce.

Wild seafood is a particularly important source of nutrition for people around the world, especially those that struggle with food security, as it can be harvested from a variety of ecosystems, including oceans, lakes, and rivers. When managed correctly, wild seafood can be harvested sustainably without harming the environment. Sustainable fisheries use methods that minimize bycatch and protect marine ecosystems.

At Premier Catch, we are committed to selling sustainable wild seafood that is harvested from well-managed fisheries. We work directly with fishermen and fishing communities to ensure that our seafood is fresh, high-quality, and sustainably caught.

We believe that wild seafood is a key part of the solution to feeding the planet in a sustainable way. By supporting sustainable fisheries, we can help to ensure that everyone has access to the nutritious food they need to thrive. It is up to you to increase the demand for sustainable wild seafood! You can help to feed the planet and protect our oceans for future generations.

In addition to the nutritional benefits listed above, they also play an important role in food security and economic development. Blue foods are a major source of food and livelihood for people around the world, especially in developing countries.

Overall, blue foods are an essential part of a healthy and sustainable diet. By increasing the desire for, and consumption of blue foods, we can help to achieve global nutrition goals and feed the planet in a sustainable way.
